According to The Athletic’s Greg Auman, the Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers are reportedly set to visit the White House on Tuesday, July 20. The trip will occur two days before the team receives their Super Bowl Rings. The Bucs will be the first championship winning team to visit the White House since the COVID-19 pandemic swept the nation last year.
Looks like the Bucs will be able to visit the White House as Super Bowl champs, and it could be as soon as this coming week. Details and logistics are still being finalized, but looks like Tuesday.

The Bucs will be the first team in Tampa Bay history to visit the White House following a championship. Between the Bucs first Super Bowl win and the Lightning’s three Stanley Cup victories, no team has been able to visit with the president.
In 2003 the Bucs weren’t able to visit because of the Iraqi war. A lock out prevented the Lightning from visiting in 2005, and COVID restricted the team from attending in 2020. Whether the Lightning will accept an invitation this year remains to be seen.
It will be interesting to see which players attend the spectacle. In recent history some players have opted out of visiting the president. Tom Brady skipped two White House visits, once in 2015 and again in 2017, during his time in New England. Then the entire Patriots team elected not to go in 2019. As of now, there are no known opt-outs from the Bucs roster.
