The honors keep rolling in for the Super Bowl Champion Bucs. On Sunday the NFL Network unveiled the first 60 players in their annual top 100 list as voted on by the players themselves. Six Bucs landed in Sunday’s announcements.
Kicking off the run of Bucs was right tackle Tristan Wirfs, who landed at 89 overall.

Wirfs was dominant as a rookie, giving up only one sack all season while facing a murderer’s row of pass rushers. One such rusher was Packers edge defender Za’Darius Smith, who had high praise for the tackle saying, “I feel like he’s going to be dominant in this league.”
Immediately following Wirfs was outside linebacker Shaq Barrett at 88.

Barrett didn’t come close to the league-leading 19.5 sacks he had in 2020, but still finished with the most quarterback pressures of all edge rushers. Former Broncos teammate Garrett Bolles described him as, “a really special dude.”
Swinging back to the offensive side of the ball, wide receiver Chris Godwin claimed his spot on the list at 81.

After a breakout year in 2020, Godwin was plagued with injuries last season. The four-year pro still managed to reel in 65 receptions for 840 yards and seven scores while putting up the best catch percentage of his career.
Broncos safety Justin Simmons recalled preparing for Godwin: “Chris’ game is like, he can line up anywhere and he can really get the job done. He can beat you deep, he can beat you on the intermediate routes. There’s no any one thing that we can almost like tip our hat on that will give away what he’s doing.”
Jumping all the way up No. 59 overall, Bucs outside linebacker Jason Pierre-Paul showed he still has a lot of admiration around the league.
“JPP’s 100% Top 100.”

The team’s lone Pro Bowler in 2020, Pierre-Paul finished the season with 9.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and two interceptions. A playmaker all over the field for the Bucs, Pierre-Paul kept that intensity going throughout the playoffs.
“My name for him is Mr. Relentless,” Devin White said. “When he step on that field, he’s gonna give you everything. I mean everything. He’s gonna lay it out there on the line.”
Wide receiver Mike Evans claimed the next spot on the list at 48 overall.
BEAST 💪

In 2020, Evans became the only receiver in NFL history to start his career with seven straight 1,000-yard seasons. Battling nagging injuries throughout the season, Evans posted 70 receptions for 1,006 yards. Evans also broke his own personal and franchise record with 14 touchdowns in the regular season.
“He has like, 1,000-yards every year he’s been in the league,” Washington wide receiver Terry McLaurin said. “Thats crazy! That’s really crazy!”
Rounding out the six Bucs inside the NFL’s 41-100 ranked players was linebacker Lavonte David at No. 43 overall.
LEGEND.

After nine seasons, David is finally starting to get the recognition he deserves as one of the league’s best off-ball linebackers. Still one of the best coverage ‘backers in the game, David reaffirmed that reputation with his performance against tight end Travis Kelce in the Super Bowl.
The veteran capped off another season with over 100 tackles, an interception, three forced fumbles, 1.5 sacks and a whopping 12 tackles-for-loss. David acknowledged his spot on the list in 2020, saying. “Last year I started out at No. 100! Like, what?! Come on now!”
With 41 players left to be announced, it remains to be seen which Bucs will crack the list. Quarterback Tom Brady and linebacker Devin White figure to be ranked, as well as possibly tight end Rob Gronkowski. The countdown continues next Sunday, August 22, with players 40-11 revealed.
