The Bucs have had yet another player placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list this week. This time it’s cornerback Jamel Dean, who tested positive for COVID-19, according to the Tampa Bay Times’ Rick Stroud.
#Bucs CB Jamel Dean will be placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list, joining WR Mike Evans and receivers coach Kevin Garver.

Dean joins wide receiver Mike Evans, who will likely miss Sunday’s game at New York due to injury, and wide receivers coach Kevin Garver on Tampa Bay’s reserve/COVID-19 list. Dean’s status for Sunday’s game is in doubt. Despite missing some time with a knee injury, a concussion and a bruised shoulder, Dean has played well this season.
If Dean can’t play, Sean Murphy-Bunting would be the starter outside in base defense. The Bucs would then lean on Pierre Desir, Dee Delaney or Richard Sherman to start for Dean outside in nickel defense while Murphy-Bunting moves inside. Or Murphy-Bunting could stay outside in nickel defense and Tampa Bay could start Ross Cockrell or Mike Edwards in the slot in nickel defense.
The Bucs had hoped that wide receiver Breshad Perriman would have cleared the COVID protocols for last Sunday’s game at Carolina after Perriman tested positive for COVID and missed the Saints game two weeks. But that wasn’t the case. Perriman will return to action this Sunday against the Jets, as he was activated from the COVID list on Monday.
