Da’Shawn Hand | South | DE | Alabama
Coming out of high school, Da’Shawn Hand was a Top 5 recruit in the country. It seemed like it was going to be only a matter of time before he started making his mark as the next great Alabama defensive lineman.
But, that didn’t exactly happen.
At 6-foot-4, 288 pounds, Hand is almost at an in between weight with a 3-4 defensive end and a 4-3 defensive end. He was hampered by playing behind some of the best run stuffers in the country at Alabama (something they usually like more from their defensive linemen). Hand does things well and is decently athletic for his body size, but he doesn’t exactly jump out at you when you watch film. Due to limited playing time until his senior season, Hand only recorded nine sacks and 14.5 tackles for loss in his career.
In Mobile, Hand should get a better shot at showing what he can do best – from whatever position that may be on the defensive line.
