Rashaad Penny | South | RB | San Diego State

There is high chance that the Buccaneers backfield could look a lot different in 2018. Doug Martin’s contract can be voided and the team could move on from him. Jacquizz Rodgers could stick around for his final year, if they choose, but if they find a better option his contract is disposable. And Charles Sims is an unrestricted free agent.

That leaves just Peyton Barber as a player you can fully expect to be back, which means new names are coming. One name who fans of the red and pewter already know some of is San Diego State’s Rashaad Penny.

Penny, at 5-foot-10, 220 pounds, is prototypical size for an all-around back. He sat behind Donnel Pumphrey for two seasons before getting the full-time load in 2017. In it, he rushed for 2,248 yards on 289 carries and 23 touchdowns. If that one year as a starter is any indication, Penny could be everything the Bucs want Peyton Barber to be but at all times.
