Brian O’Neill | North | OT | Pittsburgh
It’s tough to get a good grip on offensive linemen, draft wise, until you learn where NFL teams might be viewing them. For Brian O’Neill, we’re learning that that is pretty high after seeing him in a number of first round mock drafts this January, and seeing ESPN’s Mel Kiper give O’Neill a first round grade.
O’Neill, 6-foot-6, 305 pounds, switched from tight end to offensive tackle in 2015. He started every game at right tackle for Pitt in 2015 and 2016 and then started every game of his senior season at left tackle in 2017. As a former tight end, O’Neill has good athleticism for a big man. That helps him slide his feet well and stay in front of edge rushers as they collapse the pocket. He’s one of the better pass blocking offensive linemen in the entire class because of how well he can move.
