Akrum Wadley | North | RB | Iowa
If Kalen Ballage is the smash, then Akrum Wadley is the dash for the North team.
We wouldn’t say that Wadley, 5-foot-11, 191 pounds, is super explosive in short area situations or even a true burner going in a straight line, but what he is is smooth. Wadley can bounce off contact well with good balance. He knows how to keep his momentum going once he gets up to it, and is generally good at reading open space.
Wadley rushed for over 1,000 yards in back-to-back season in 2016 and 2017, but did see his yards-per-carry average decrease from 6.4 to 4.4. What we need to see from him in Mobile is something we’ve talked about before and that’s a “trump card.” What does Wadley do better than others? What’s his bread and butter? What separates himself from other running backs? If we can’t find it, he’ll get lost in a talented class. All-around only works if you’re a special talent.
