The Bucs, along with the rest of the NFL, have made some important decisions on roster cuts for their teams in order to get their roster down to 53 players by Tuesday at 4:00 PM. Each organization has cut 37 players in order to get ready for the regular season, but this isn’t the end of the road for every player that was released.

While Tampa Bay has made its initial roster moves, the team also has to fill out their practice squad, which will consist of 16 players. Although these players aren’t on the main roster, they practice each day with the team and could eventually get called up because of injury or a player getting waived.
Wide receiver Deven Thompkins is a great example of this as he began last season on the practice squad and eventually found his way onto the 53-man roster as Tampa Bay’s main punt and kick returner.

Bucs are also bringing back defensive lineman Pat O'Connor on their practice squad, following his release Wednesday. Has been in Tampa since 2017, a leader on special teams the last three seasons. Practice squad is now complete at 16 players.
