Pewter Report spent the week in Mobile, Alabama at the Senior Bowl to see which prospects could be fits for the Bucs in the upcoming NFL Draft. There were a lot of great defensive performances throughout the three Senior Bowl practices on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. That bodes well for Tampa Bay, who needs plenty of help on the defensive side of the ball.

Its safe to say that inside linebacker and outside linebacker are the top two needs for the Bucs on defense, while defensive tackle isn’t too far behind either.  Of course the cream of the crop was Texas Tech inside linebacker Jacob Rodriguez. He was the best defensive player all week long, forcing a fumble and recording an interception in practice while also winning a lot of his one on one matchups. Don’t sleep on Pittsburgh’s Kyle Louis either, he elevated his game this week.

Heading into the Senior Bowl the talk at edge rusher was all Romello Height out of Texas Tech and T.J. Parker from Clemson. It wound up being Parker that was the best edge rusher, though others fared well, too. Defensive tackle saw Darrell Jackson out of Florida State, Penn State’s Zane Durant and Rayshaun Benny from Michigan all have good performances.

The Bucs don’t need a ton of help on the offensive side, but likely need to find another running back to back up Bucky Irving and potentially Sean Tucker. There’s also the chance that tight end Cade Otton isn’t on the team anymore, meaning they could be looking for a starter through the draft. Penn State running back Kaytron Allen was arugbaly the best of the bunch showing his ability to get to the second and third levels. Stanford tight end Sam Roush was consistent all week long at the Senior Bowl while Josh Cuevas showed his receiving capabilities, too.
