Bucs head coach Todd Bowles is going into his third season as the head coach of Tampa Bay. He also has yeas and years of coaching experience before that, too. One of the knocks on Bowles has been that he is typically stoic on the sideline during the game, whether it’s a good or bad play, Todd Bowles shows the same emotion.

This has bothered some Bucs fans, as they want him to have some kind of reaction. They feel it can help if he gets on the case of a referee to help get Tampa Bay a call later on or to at least motivate the team when the situation calls for it. Bowles feels though that if he stays even keeled, it doesn’t cause anybody to panic and allows the team to stay the course.
Part of it is because it’s very different than what Bowles’ predecessor and protege, Bruce Arians brought in. Arians was light into a referee or call out a player publicly. Bowles goes about it with a much different approach and a similar demeanor almost regularly.
That all changed on Wednesday had his press conference during the week as the Bucs prepare to play against the Commanders.
Todd Bowles Gets Emphatic At Press Conference
Todd Bowles was told that he has a stoic nature on the sideline when a question was set up for him about his excitement level going into Week 1 of a new season. His immediate response will live in Bucs’ history.
“I’M EXCITED!” BOWLES screamed as he slammed his hands on the lectern. Laughter then erupted from the media and Bowles himself. It was a shocking and comical moment to begin the season. Here is the full video from Pewter Report of Todd Bowles’ reaction:

There’s always been a comical side to Bowles that maybe hasn’t always been seen by the general public. Bowles can be very sarcastic and also has a dry sense of humor. Many players have also mentioned how Bowles can talk a lot of trash during practice throughout the week. What many see on game days isn’t what’s going on behind the scenes.

After the laughters slowed down a little, Bowles tried to give out a response while chuckling through it.
“You always have the butterflies when you go out there,” Bowles said. “It’s opening day in the NFL. It’s no different than when you are playing.”
Bowles finished his statement commenting on seizing the moment to show some emotion with “It was sitting there.” As he continued to laugh.
Baker Mayfield Reacts To Bowles
Once the press conference with Bowles wrapped up, next to speak was Bucs starting quarterback Baker Mayfield. Being made aware of what Bowles had just done. Mayfield sarcastically began with “I”m excited too!” in a louder voice than usual.

Later on, Mayfield was asked about if he gets any nerves before Week 1.His answer was different than what Bowles provided.
“No,” Bowles said. “Get a little ammonia packed and I’m ready to roll.”
It appears the Bucs are pretty relaxed as they set sail for the regular season. They are not lacking any sort of enthusiasm.
