The Bucs trailed for 59 minutes and 45 seconds against the Jets, but it was a Tom Brady-to-Cyril Grayson 33-yard touchdown pass that gave Tampa Bay the lead and a 28-24 victory at New York. Tampa Bay’s defense didn’t show up to play on Sunday, allowing New York to rush for 150 yards and score 24 points. Aside from a key fourth down stop on the Bucs’ 7-yard line, the defense didn’t make enough big plays. The Bucs offense – led by Brady – did just enough in the passing game to improve to 12-4.

Here are this week’s most impressive Buccaneers:

QB Tom Brady

Brady started the game 6-of-8 for 40 yards on Tampa Bay’s initial scoring drive. He threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to Mike Evans to cap off the drive. Then Brady came up clutch with a fourth down touchdown pass to tight end Cam Brate at the end of the third quarter to cut the Jets’ lead to a touchdown. Brady saved his best for last, hitting Cyril Grayson, Jr. with a 33-yard touchdown pass with 15 seconds left to cap off a 93-yard game-winning drive. Brady hit Grayson and Tyler Johnson with passes down the stretch, completing 7-of-9 passes for 93 yards. He finished the game completing 34-of-50 passes for 410 yards with three touchdowns and one interception.

WR Cyril Grayson, Jr.

For the second straight week, Grayson came up with an 81-yard receiving day – but Sunday’s effort was his best because it featured a 33-yard game-winning touchdown. Grayson came up big in the third quarter with a 20-yard catch on a critical third-and-20. Then he caught four passes for 52 yards on Tampa Bay’s final drive, including the game-winner. It was an absolutely amazing performance from such an unheralded receiver, who is making the most of his playing time. Without Antonio Brown, the Bucs will continue to need Grayson to step up.

TE Rob Gronkowski

Gronkowski bounced back from two lackluster games against the Saints and the Panthers with a huge outing. He was targeted 10 times and caught seven passes for 115 yards with several of those receptions picking up first downs. Gronkowski had his second 100-yard game of the season and his third as a Buccaneer. While he wasn’t targeted on the Bucs’ final drive, Gronkowski helped draw double coverage to free up Grayson and Johnson.

WR Mike Evans

Evans returned from a hamstring injury that kept him out of last week’s win at Carolina to start against the Jets. While not anywhere close to 100 percent, Evans caught two passes for eight yards on Tampa Bay’s first drive, including a 4-yard touchdown, which was his 12th of the season. Evans had a 31-yard catch in the second quarter. While Evans only had one catch after halftime, his presence alone on the final drive was huge because he freed up Grayson and Tyler Johnson to receive every target (nine) and every catch (seven). Evans proved to be a gamer and finished the game with four receptions for 47 yards and a score.

WR Tyler Johnson

Johnson dropped a touchdown pass that forced the Bucs to kick a field goal in the fourth quarter, but he redeemed himself on Tampa Bay’s final scoring drive. He was targeted four times and caught three passes for 41 yards, including a 27-yarder down to the Jets 43-yard line. Grayson would catch the next two passes, including the game-winner. Johnson finished with four catches for 50 yards.

TE Cam Brate

Brate didn’t have a spectacular day, but he did have a spectacular catch. The veteran tight end only had two catches for five yards, but his 4-yard touchdown catch at the end of the third quarter was clutch. Brate’s TD grab came on fourth-and-goal and cut into New York’s 24-10 lead.
