WELCOME TO THE 2018 FREE ACENCY TRACKER
***updated: 5:40 p.m. EDT 3/17/18***
Here at PewterReport.com, we’re going to give you your one-stop shop for all your free agency fixes as one of the most hectic weeks of the football year comes to pass.
Though we are a Bucs-centric site, we’ll be tracking almost all of the big-name free agents in real time here on this page, because where players go could affect other moves around the league, and will ultimately be players the Bucs face, at some point, as well. Just because you may not see a player’s name on this list right away, that doesn’t mean we won’t be adding them as rumors and reports start to come out about different players.
Make sure you’re checking back in with this page to get not only the official signings of the players, but also any well-sourced rumors of where some of the big-name players may be going before it happens.
When players are signed, we will update that next to their name with the team and contract details, if known.

Thanks for the update Trevor, hope it’s going to be a productive next couple of weeks..
And didn’t realized that McKinnon played QB, RB and CB in college. Frigging blew up the combine as well as one of the top performers in every drill, including a 4.41 forty and 32 reps on the bench @ 5′ 9″ 209lbs.
yeah, he’s also a stand up guy. I went to college with him and had a few classes with the guy, really genuinely nice dude.
Time to find out Lichts “plan”. Thanks for the updates guys. Love this site. No pass rushers on the list. Still amazed licht didnt get quinn for a 4th and swap of 6ths. But on to the next stage. Cmon Licht make the team better.
Sign Jensen, Sitton, Gaines, Colvin, Lewis, Lotulelei, and Vaccaro from this list.
You didn’t mention DE. Get Vinny Curry, Aaron Lynch, and Alex Okafor.
Then suddenly, the Bucs are not nearly as needed at any position and will be free to draft BPA: Vea, Fitzpatrick, or James. Or trade down with Bills and grab 2 quality DL or a DL and a RB. No matter what happens, the Bucs must draft linemen on both sides to develop. Football is won in the trenches!
I’ll add them!
Trevor, what do the colors mean for the approximate signing values? Is that to show how much interest the Bucs have, or is it what you guys “think” the Bucs interest should be? I was confused because this list also includes players at a position of need even though the Bucs have no interest in them? I was mainly curious because it seems that Okafor is the best available DE in FA and we do not seem to be showing much interest in him, and he has a red Price tag. I know I’m late in asking this, but can you help me??
Yes they’d better get lots of linemen on both sides. I think they realized that after last year, hope so anyway. I’d sign Jensen, Sitton, Suh, Okafor, Clayborn, Gaines, and Lewis. Set them up nicely for the draft. Pretty sure the Glazers wont pony up that much money tho but heres to wishing.
Honey Bear, I don’t think we will be adding 10 players via FA, your list is a little long. Although, I do like a lot of the names on it. Hopefully we are selective and get some good fits for the Bucs. A good fit is usually better than the biggest name.
I think if we can sign Jensen, Lewis and Gaines, it would be a pretty good coup…we do need a defensive tackle though to, if Suh could drop his price tag a little bit I’d say him too.
I don’t think Suh would drop his price tag for the Bucs. If anything, we would probably have to pay him more, unless he just loves the state of Florida that much. Also, I don’t know that he is a good fit for our team chemistry. We have young leaders. Suh does not have a great reputation. I think we are better off spending less on a guy like Lotulelei and bringing back Clinton McDonald.
Charlie, I’m with you but think we HAVE to get Okafor, even if we overpay a little. He is by far, the best pass rushing, true DE left in FA. I also would love Lewis, but I think the RB’s in this FA period are going to be too hard to sign and cost WAY too much! I think we will need to draft 2 RB’s, one early and one late/undrafted. Or, we are going to have to wait for all the RB’s to be paid, then get anybody who is left. Crowell or somebody.
Scoop him up quick.
Good Job Trevor! Thorough and up to date. Keep up the good work. Go Bucs!
Thanks! I’ll be adding as many players as I see rumors and reports for asap during the next few days.
Just wanted you to know that I have great appreciation for the effort that goes into the accumulation of this kind of information – tremendous amount of research and reading. Again great job as you do with all of your work.
Wonder what Suh would do for Buc’s D-line?
For what you’d have to pay the guy, I don’t think he’s worth it. A headcase that hasn’t had double digit sacks in 7 years. NO thanks.
He would definitely stomp people’s faces, so there’s that!
With Suh and McCoy we would get a lot of sacks, we would also likely see a lot of flags too.
Price, and need I’d try to sign Okafor, and Lynch. Trev, you didn’t list the dollar amount for Poe, who I’d also try to sign.
You’re right. Will add him over there.
Spotrac says market value is 5.7mil. I think more. Will be demand driven. Got 8mil last year.
I agree. I think he’ll get a little more than that.
Suh should be a Buc but who knows what goes through Meatballs head during the summer. He’s paying Ayers and Gholston almost 14M but will find a reason not to pursue Suh. Vea is nice but why not sign Suh, get Shepard in the 3rd and let him develop behind 2 great players. Makes too much sense is my guess.
Here the Bucs are being linked to yet ANOTHER rotational DL this Beau guy from the Eagles that we will probably overpay with the hope that increased snaps will increase his production. Another player with a ceiling of Clint McDonald and a floor of Chris Baker. Meanwhile Jacksonville is busy paying Norwell and getting difference makers in FA while we sift through dumpsters hoping for a nickel. Gaines yet another player that hasn’t taken the next step and the list goes on. At some point we have to realize, it’s better to sign 2 impact FAs vs 5 mediocre FAs. This motto hasn’t worked at all during Licht’s days as GM but we continue with the same process. GO SIGN SUH, If you get Beau as additional depth then have at it but come Jason you can’t be this stupid.
Can I talk you into adding a time stamp when you update it so we know if theres new info?
OK I can do that at the top of the page.
Thanks Trev. You da man (bun)
(Psst, its EDT now that were in Daylight Saving. I wont tell anybody)
Oh, shoot! You’re right! I changed it.
Hey @pewterreportts, since you are taking requests, can we get a revision history. The player(s) who was edited? We are a needy bunch of people. Lol
I can’t do that now. I’ll do that next time!
Trade Desean Jackson and pick #108 to the Cardinals for Tyrann Matheu and pick # 97.
I’m all for trading DJax, but for high draft picks, not for an injured player that is likely to get cut.
I thought Matheu might be cut due to salary, wasn’t aware he was injured.
If Djax is gone Bucs should add Paul Richardson, cheaper replacement to add to Evans, Godwin and Humphries.
Also didn”t realize that T Gabriel was a FA. He could be a good D Jax replacement.
I agree 100%
Trevor, thank you for all your efforts. You’ve been great!!!!
Sign someone not currently on our roster….someone who can upgrade 1 starting position – not more depth FAs…make one upgrade to our starting lineup in FA, that would be a good goal at this juncture.
In case it needs to be explicit: no, Beau Allen is not that 1 signing.
Trevor, where do we now stand as to salary cap space?
I believe with Evans, Brate, Grimes, Humphries and the other small moves that it’s somewhere between $45-50 M.
FYI PR staff: You have an auto-playing 300×250 Hulu ad on your mobile experience that hijacks the experience and scrolls down to the ad everytime it refreshes. This is a horrible user experience, not to mention this is considered ad fraud by third-party ad fraud detection services. I doubt this was done intentionally, but if so, you might want to consider fixing that issue. I’ve reached out to someone in ad sales at Hulu and brought it to their attention, as this type of activity is something advertisers hate their brands to be associated with. I’ve worked for years in digital ad sales and ad buying, and I’m disappointed one of my go-to Bucs sites has a user experience that has actively kept me from clicking on your articles the past week or so.
Not sure anyone care, but you ought to, and I hope this comment is taken in stride and seen as an opportunity to improve the user experience on the site. If you would like to some help with digital ad sales, I’d be happy to lend my experience free of charge because I like the site.
Wow, this flu is not helping my typing. Sorry for the typos!
Jack, thank you!!
You are not the first person who has said something like this today, and I’ve had no idea how to identify/fix the problem. Will send this knowledge over to our tech guy and hopefully he can get it fix ASAP.
Again, thank you. Sorry PR has been an inconvenience in the meantime.
I am not experiencing that on mobile. Will probably need to know what operating system and browser he’s using to narr9w it down.
Android version 8.1.0, Google Pixel XL, Chrome.
Good call, Sclobernocker.
I just really appreciate the response, Trevor. I really enjoy the site and your contributions to it. Keep up the stellar work. These ads can be tricky for all sorts of reasons. Advertisers or ad networks are often the culprits, so it can be difficult to troubleshoot. I would hate for y’all to get flagged as a potentially fraudulent site due to a broken ad. That would be awful.
Yeah, definitely trying to avoid that.
But, more importantly, anything that takes away from or just hinders the reading experience for people needs to be removed. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Big thank you!
OL 1-2 of Norwell/Jensen/Sitton. If we get Jensen, we can move Marpet back to G where he really shines.
RB Crowell would be my first choice but McKinnon or Lewis would be valuable as well while we develop our rookie RB.
DL Suh is probably not worth the extra money and headache. I’d go with Poe at DT and Okafor/Lynch/Curry DE
CB I say put in an offer for all of them and see where the cards fall. I’d like to see 1-2 of either Johnson/Butler and Gaines
S Parker is a good value while we develop a rookie S to start alongside Evans.
We can then draft BPA without feeling pressured by needs.
I forgot to add Hyde to the wish list at RB, he’d be my second choice ahead of McKinnon/Lewis
I have not been a big fan of taking Vea at 7, although I like him a lot. If we could get something like this in FA, while skipping the DT position, I would have no problem with Vea at 7. Jensen at C, Sitton or Pugh at G, Okafor and Lynch at DE, EJ Gaines at CB. That is a big push for 5 FA’s that would solidify our team and make the draft a little more BPA friendly. Could also make a trade for J James as a backup or starting OT. That would leave us about 8 – 10 M in cap space for emergency.
Forgot we could add Parker for some Safety help if we want for about 4M or so.
Watkins is signing with the Chiefs
Norwell to the Jags wow
Licht is nothing more then a meathead scout, Koetter an average O.C., the Glazers worst owners in the league, don’t expect much this year.
Licht is much more than a meathead scout surferdudes, he’s the executive with the worst record in the modern history of the franchise. Remember, historically bad is still historic.
Has anyone been in for a vist yet? Do you know if the Bucs have even contacted a single agent yet?
See a lot of guys getting signed elsewhere while the Bucs sit on their hands. This is getting embarrassing. And I don’t want to hear this “who wins free agency don’t win regulars season” crap. 6 of the top ten spenders last off season ALL made the playoffs. I like signing our guys, but if Licht thinks he’s going to sign a bunch of tier B guys and draft his way to the playoffs, he might as well get his resume started for his next job. I mean really, we’re linked to Philly second string tackle how had a total of 2 sacks last year. That’s REALLY going to help Mccoy out.Now free agency hasn’t officially started yet and I’ve always been a glass half full kind of guy, I’m starting to quickly lose faith in this organization to actually try to win.
Tamba Hali is the only person from this article that interests me. To me he was always a better fit as a 4-3 DE than a 3-4 OLB. I think he’ll have another 2 good years in him with the position switch.
Interesting observation. Really weak Free Agent class.
Are you saying no leaks on mckkinnon yet to build hype for when we sign him?
Seem his name onlt linked to us on other sites.
DE, DT, RB, OL, CB
Licht this is easy to do. Don’t screw it up.
I’d rather sign some of our younger players now with extending contract offers than waste a lot of money on a lot of these free agents.
Me too Horse. For some reason folks poo-poo extending our own quality players. Free agency just hasn’t proven to be the way to build a roster for the long haul. My hometown Steelers are a good example. Different isn’t always better. A sense of belonging is a great motivator. Cash is a short lived incentive.
Same coach’s same players same GM same results! It’s a Bucs life
I was hoping to see one new buc by 8pm today but it’s not looking good for that! They are so frustrating! They are really piss in people off dammit!
Fix the trenches. This isn’t hard Licht!
I’m really starting to think Tampa doesn’t want to win. Every year same ish…. we get hyped for no reason. I can’t remember the last time we signed a decent free agent that actually made the team better. Besides Brent Grimes which hes on his way out.. Why do we always throw the money to the one hit wonders or a backups backup. Also a Injury prone has been. Every none playoff team has gotten a tad bit better besides us…. Sorry for the paragraph people but I’m just tired of the same BS it’s really not that hard to build A solid offensive and defensive line with a ton of cap…
Getting Jensen, Gaines, Parker and McKinnon , maybe Richardson should imagine be targets
Well, we missed the boat on Lewis and Crowell but looks like we still have a shot at Mckinnon!
Norwell appears to be off the board as well but I’d still be happy with Jensen and/or Sitton
Was really hoping for Johnson and/or Butler but Gaines is a pretty nice consolation prize.
Let’s all keep our fingers crossed for Okafor and/or Poe…Suh probably isn’t gonna be worth the money and headache.
I like the idea of bringing in Parker as a stop gap and hopefully drafting someone to grow along side Justin Evans.
It’s not all doom and gloom guys…well, not yet at least. Licht could still pull the offseason hat trick!
Updated FA Wish List:
CB – EJ Gaines (9M) – Draft Danny Johnson 6th
LG – Josh Sitton (8M) – Draft Braden Smith 3rd (No Evans or Pamphile; Keep Sweezy)
DT – Beau Allen (5M) – Draft Vea or Payne 1st (No McDonald or Siliga)
DE – Alex Okafor (6M) – Draft Jalyn Holmes or Ejiofor 4th (No Russell or Clarke; Keep Ayers)
RB – Jerick McKinnon (6M) – Draft Guice/Michel/Chubb 2nd
S – Terrence Brooks (3M) – Draft Siran Neal 5th
I like your thinking…I look forward to seeing good news on my twitter feed from @pewterreport when I wake up tomorrow morning!
oh, and I’d add C Jensen to that wish list as well. Would give us the option of putting Marpet back at guard where he will be all-pro
My goodness some of you folks are antsy. Free Agency hasn’t even officially started. It’s like when we were kids peeking in the closet a fews days before Christmas to see what present might be under the tree and not finding anything. Oh no Santa’s not coming! Mommy and Daddy are so mean. Little Dougie found the new bike he’s getting. Boo Hoo! Then we go into a pout until Christmas morning and see all of the presents and our own new bike…..better than Dougie’s. Relax!
Not being a jackleg here, but I’m wondering what your thoughts are on FA so far?
I’m not a big fan of free agency, especially the so-called big name signings of players who seem to move from one team to another. I prefer the up and coming guy who has a better chance of fitting in with “his team”.
They need to sign one of the remaining D. tackles from the sheer fact we only currently have two on the roster. One has never played before, and one is over thirty. Would think one corner from the remaining group, right? Since Hawley, Smith, Phampile are gone, we need to grab a G.C..
I had McKinnon at 6M. Went 7.5M to 49ers. Money to burn. Hyde gone too. Wait for everyone to burn through cash and compete for 2nd tier looks like. Jeremy Hill is up next I guess.
If Licht hadn’t overpaid for Grimes we could sign Mathieu. I say cut Grimes, Conte and Tandy and sign Mathieu. Mathieu is only a shell of his former self but is better than those 3 guys combined.
Does anyone know about this aaron Lynch kid from San Francisco? He had two seven sack seasons in his first two years and then the switch to 3-4 made him more of an outside linebacker instead of a true DE. He’s only 26 and at 6-5 270 he’s an imposing figure.
Trevor, where are we on Cap Space? If I’m the GM, I’m keeping at least 15 million for next season; hopefully have enough to pay Winston early before the 2019 season actually starts. The longer they wait the more it will cost to sign Winston.
cards wr john brown already signing with ravens. you can add that in there
Trevor how much Salary Cap money do we have left? Roughly
not counting rookie contracts
Any chance that next offseason Winston decides to take the Tom Brady approach?
Being early in his career took less for the franchise to have more.
I am all for finishing one project when opportunity presents itself. We have a stable tight end corp, line-backing corp and wide receiver corp. Finish the O-line and find a running back. Since you’re not going to get a great edge rusher concentrate a couple picks on DB’s and if nothing else provide upgrades and depth for our DB’s. Finally, I said 2 months ago that due to the lack of pass-rush potential the Buc’s should focus on keeping their defense on the bench by scoring more points and producing longer drives.
PS, might take a look at Vinny Curry and E j Gaines in FA.
