In the previous mock scenario, we had predicted that USC quarterback Sam Darnold would not be declaring, as are the reports coming out right now. In this scenario, we do have Darnold declaring, as we’re trying to give Bucs fans some options they might have if the draft goes a few different ways at the top.

Though the quarterback class might not be what we originally thought it would be in the preseason, you know teams at the bottom of the standings will take quarterbacks at the top of the draft. This is how the Top 5 could shape up if Darnold decides to declare.

1. Cleveland Browns (0-8)

PICK: PENN STATE RB SAQUON BARKLEY

2. San Francisco 49ers (0-8)

PICK: USC QB SAM DARNOLD

3. New York Giants (1-7)

PICK: TEXAS OT CONNOR WILLIAMS

4. Indianapolis Colts (2-6)

PICK: DE BRADLEY CHUBB

5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-5)

PICK: CLEMSON DE CLELIN FERRELL

Forget how many teams have more sacks than the Tampa Bay Buccaneers – it’s 31, by the way – there are seven players alone who have more sacks than the Buccaneers have total.

That must instantly be remedied if this team is going to get what they need to out of their roster talent in 2018. For that, plug in the 6-foot-5, 265-pound beast, who is the next special edge player to come through the defensive line talent factory that is Clemson.

As a redshirt freshman in 2016, Ferrell recorded 12.5 tackles for loss and six sacks as a part of the nation’s best defensive line, which helped them win a National Championship. In 2017, he’s up to 7.5 tackles for loss with 5.5 sacks. The crazy added element to that is that Ferrell will be just 20 years old on draft day – 21 during his rookie season.

If you ask me, Ferrell has the highest ceiling out of any edge defender in this class. He has the body and the talent to be an All-Pro player.
