In the previous draft, the stipulation change was that USC quarterback Sam Darnold was declaring instead of staying for another year. In this mock draft, the big change I put forth is that a team at the top falls in love with Louisville’s dynamic quarterback, Lamar Jackson, and he goes No.1 overall.

If that happens and Darnold once again goes back to school, here’s how things could play out for the Buccaneers.

1. Cleveland Browns (0-8)

PICK: LOUISVILLE QB LAMAR JACKSON

2. San Francisco 49ers (0-8)

PICK: UCLA QB JOSH ROSEN

3. New York Giants (1-7)

PICK: PENN STATE RB SAQUON BARKLEY

4. Indianapolis Colts (2-6)

PICK: NORTH CAROLINA STATE DE BRADLEY CHUBB

5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-5)

PICK: TEXAS OT CONNOR WILLIAMS

So what if Chubb is off the board and Ferrell isn’t the pick? Do the Buccaneers go cornerback? I say no – there might be a bigger fish to fry.

Bucs right tackle Demar Dotson has been a staple for this team’s offensive line since he was signed as an undrafted free agent by Tampa Bay in 2009. Even though he is having a great year, he turned 32 this season and drop-offs can come quick for big men. You never want to be on the wrong end of it. On the other side, three years in and left tackle Donovan Smith just might not have what it takes to be a franchise left tackle. He improved a bit earlier this year, but has regressed back to his previous self over the last two games.

With that said, at No. 5 in the draft, the Bucs might have the chance to take the offensive lineman with the highest ceiling in this class and that is Texas’ Connor Williams.

Right now Williams is listed at 6-foot-6 and 300 pounds. That weight is smaller for an NFL offensive lineman, but Williams packs so much strength with his speed that you have to think he can put on a little more weight and be fine.

Williams suffered a meniscus tear along with MCL and PCL sprains in the team’s loss to USC back in September. He has since undergone surgery and would be good to go for the next NFL season, if he declared – he is still a junior. If he does declare and gets back to full health, he’s the most versatile and consistent offensive tackle in this class. He would be the pick at No. 5 if the Bucs looked that way and wanted to hit a home run.
