Tight End
Most impressive: Mike Gesicki | TE | Penn State
I was not a huge fan of Gesicki before the Senior Bowl. I thought his frame was super weird (still is) and he was really poor as a blocker. He could catch, even acrobatically, at times, but that wasn’t enough for me in this tight end class. At the Senior Bowl, however, his receiving ability was so good that it stood out head and shoulders above the rest. Even if I still think he’s going to be suspect as a pass blocker, he has a big, long frame and can be a weapon in the passing game in a vertical offense.
Most disappointing: Dallas Goedert | TE | South Dakota State
Goedert got hurt four plays into the first Senior Bowl practice and that is the part that was super disappointing in all this. Goedert has the frame, height, length and overall size, to be a complete TE1 in the NFL. The question mark is that he played at South Dakota State. Senior Bowl week was suppose to be his test against better competition and we didn’t get to see it. Disappointing for us and for him to prove himself.
