Interior Defensive Lineman
Most impressive: Nathan Shepherd | DT | Fort Hays State
How do I say this with it sounding like a complete overreaction…
Nathan Shepherd was one of the most impressive Senior Bowl player I’ve ever seen.
Shepherd got hurt midway through the second day, so unfortunately we only got to see one full day and some lighter work on day two. But, in the time we had to judge him, he was hard to believe – in a good way. His combination of violent, fast hands, great get off the snap, power in his lower body and motor when executing his role was a combination I hadn’t seen before. He broke his hands, so we’re not sure if we’ll be able to see him at the Combine, but I hope so. He was the best player in Mobile, if you ask me. Hands down.
Most disappointing: Greg Gilmore | DT | LSU
Unfortunately for Gilmore, Shepherd was attracting a ton of attention an there were different players like Da”Shawn Hand who were flashing on the inside in faster ways. That made for Gilmore getting lost in the shuffle. Perhaps he had a better week that I’m giving credit for, but I didn’t notice him.
