While the Bucs aren’t expected to go crazy in free agency this season, they will be looking to upgrade a number of positions. PewterReport.com takes a look at each unit over the next week, showcasing which players Tampa Bay could lose, and which players might replace them, including our Bucs’ Best Bets.
2019 Bucs Free Agents: Cameron Lynch
He is an up-tempo, energetic player on the field who makes his mark on special teams where he has played role for the Bucs during his time here. Lynch had a career high four tackles last season, and could be signed once training camp rolls around.
Top NFL Free Agent Outside Linebackers
1. Anthony Barr – Vikings
2. Brandon Marshall – Broncos
3. K.J. Wright – Seahawks
4. Derrick Morgan – Titans
5. Za’Darius Smith – Ravens
Others: Terrell Suggs (Ravens), Clay Matthews (Packers), Jerimiah Attachou (Jets), Thomas Davis (Panthers), Kyle Emanuel (Chargers), Ramon Humber (Patriots)
Outlook: Barr missed three games but still had a fourth straight Pro Bowl year. There will be no shortage of teams looking to sign the 26-year old linebacker and his talents. Za’Darius Smith is another younger player at 27, who is able to get to the quarterback and solidifying his role. Much of the other linebackers on this list are older but are well accomplished in their knowledge of the game.
Bucs’ Best Bet: Cameron Lynch
With a shortage of linebackers and a plan to move to a 3-4 part of the time, Lynch might make the most sense, especially with the fact he would come relatively cheap. However, Lynch is a special teamer for the most part, and likely viewed to be that by the new coaching staff as well. With the Bucs salary cap situation, other than through the draft, the Bucs will most likely have to address the position through bargain basement free agency and from cuts from other teams. The Bucs would like to keep free agent Kwon Alexander, but have decided to let him test free agency.
