For the second straight week, PewterReport.com’s “Just Grillin” award could’ve gone to a few Bucs players following the team’s 19-17 win in Kansas City last Sunday. But, in taking each finalist’s respective situation into consideration, we’ve selected Roberto Aguayo.

On Sunday, in a hostile stadium with temperatures in the 40s, the rookie kicker connected on all four FG attempts as well as a late PAT to give the Bucs a two-score lead with just over six minutes to play.

“Roberto had a good day, his best day as a pro,” head coach Dirk Koetter said after the game, adding that the Bucs “needed all those field goals” to keep it close. “Roberto was clutch today.

“You could probably ask kickers in a lot of other cities that have kicked in far worse weather than that,” Koetter said, downplaying the conditions. “For Roberto, that might have been bad, but for Kansas City at Thanksgiving time, this was a beautiful day.”

Koetter rightfully expects his second-round kicker to hit anything under 40 yards in cold weather, but for a Florida native who had struggled mightily to begin his career, Sunday was an impressive performance.

After a rocky start – 4-for-8 on FGs to start his career following an awful preseason – Aguayo has now connected on seven straight three-point attempts and has gone three straight games without a missed PAT. Not impressed by the latter stat? Consider this: there were 12 missed extra points around the league in Week 11.

For his efforts in Arrowhead, Aguayo is this week’s Just Grillin Pewter Player of the Week and will receive a $50 gift certificate to Just Grillin in Carrollwood.
