The Tampa Bay Buccaneers looked to increase the size on their defensive line last year when they signed Chris Baker and drafted Stevie Tu’ikolovatu. Just because those choices didn’t work for 2017 didn’t mean the philosophy was going to change, and that is evident by the team signing Eagles nose tackle Beau Allen.

Allen signed a 3-year, $15 million dollar deal worth up to $16.5 million in incentives. $7.25 million in the deal is guaranteed.

Allen is a former seventh round pick from the 2014 NFL draft. But, just because he was a seventh round pick, that didn’t stop him from playing in all 16 games a rookie and becoming a contributing player for the last two years. At 6-foot-3, 330 pounds, Allen is a nose tackle type of player who was a rotational piece in the Eagles Super Bowl defensive line.

He’ll try to fill the role the team was trying to fill with Baker last year.
