The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have claimed Adam Reth off waivers from Philadelphia and waived injured defensive tackle Drew Iddings, who was signed this week. Reth, who is 6-foot-3, 290 pounds, was signed by the Eagles as an undrafted free agent this offseason out of Northern Iowa.
The Bucs have significant depth issues at defensive tackle as first-round draft pick Vita Vea has been out of practice for the past three weeks due to a calf strain. Veteran defensive tackle Mitch Unrein, who was signed in free agency, has not been cleared from concussion protocol and has been out the last two weeks. Neither Vea nor Unrein has suited up for either of Tampa Bay’s first two preseason games.
The Bucs have had to play defensive ends Will Gholston and Patrick O’Connor inside at defensive tackle in the preseason games due to the lack of depth at defensive tackles this August.
