Latest Bucs Headlines

Another season of frustration and disappointment continued on Sunday, this time the repeat movie was against the Ravens in Baltimore. The Bucs had their chances, shot themselves in the foot repeatedly and to no one’s surprise dropped their ninth game of the season, losing to the Ravens 20-12.

Below is the list of most impressive players in the loss. Take a look and see if you agree and offer up your thoughts in the comment section below.

ROOSTER’S PEWTER PLAYER
LB Lavonte David

His head coach Dirk Koetter said it best when he said that David was fantastic out there. David was without question the ultimate defender for the Bucs, notching 12 tackles, two sacks, and a fumble recovery. It’s so apparent how different this defense is when he’s in the lineup.

Anywhere you looked, David was in on the play and leading the defense. While the Bucs let up a ton of rushing yards, it could of been even worse if it wasn’t for him. It’s never easy chasing down Lamar Jackson, but David was able to get to him twice, which were the only sacks by the Bucs all game.

WR Mike Evans
The rainy conditions made it difficult for every receiver out there to catch the ball, but Evans still was able to tally 121 yards on four catches.

Evans’ biggest play of the game was when he hauled in a 64 yard catch from Jameis Winston on a scramble play that was on 3rd and 20. His big game also put him at 1,328 yards on the season, which is a career high for him. He broke another record as well, having the most receiving yards through 14 games in a season as a Bucs player. He continues to achieve milestones on almost a regular basis now during his young career.

RB Peyton Barber
Barber ran like a man with a purpose, using his physical nature to his advantage. His touchdown run was the only time the Bucs reached the end zone in the game. Both he and Mike Evans combined for 210 of Tampa’s 241 yards in the game.

It’s a shame Barber couldn’t have gotten more carries in the second half, but the score mixed with a change in play calling dictated otherwise. Barber showed that he can be a consistent one effective runner if the offense can give him even the slightest of room to run. His 85 yards on 19 carries made for a productive afternoon.

DT Vita Vea
The first round pick of the Bucs has continued his upward trend. Vea has his wits about him now, looking comfortable playing an important role for the Bucs defensive line. It was another solid game for Vea, who combined for nine tackles on the game. Those were a career high.

Vea continues to get better each week and raise the bar for the expectations of him. Bucs fans should be happy that his progression is coming along nicely. This might quiet the Derwin James talk for at least a week with the optimism now seen from Vea’s performance.
