Bruce Arians has been a well regarded coach in the football world before he even became the new Bucs head coach. Starting his coaching career in 1977, Arians has had many stops along the way at both the college and NFL level.
Known as both a players coach and a man who is serious on accountability, Arians still receives praise from former athletes that played under him.
One former player who gave such insight on the coaching of Arians was former Super Bowl winning offensive linemen for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Willie Colon. Colon, who was a member of the Steelers from 2006-2012, and then the Jets from 2013-2015, played under Arians when he was the offensive coordinator in Pittsburgh.
During his show as a co-host of the Laces Out Podcast on Barstool Sports, Colon recalled a story of Arians during his second year in the NFL. It was a moment that got him in the right mind set, and has stuck with him ever since.
For Bucs fans wanting to know what Arian’s coaching could be like, this tells a story about Arians holding his players accountable.
“BA, he was quirky, he can joke” Colon said. “But he was dead a** serious.”
