In 2018 Next Gen Stats introduced Completion Probability, a new metric that would attempt to contextualize passing and receiving performance on a per play basis.
Completion Probability takes the air distance, receiver separation, sideline separation, pass rush separation, passer speed at the time of the throw and the passers time to throw all into account when analyzing the probability of the pass being caught.
