The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced on Friday that they have agreed to terms Devin White, the team’s first round pick from the 2019 NFL Draft. White has already become the vocal leader of Tampa Bay’s defense and has been hyped by some as a candidate for NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year.

The Bucs selected White (6-0, 240) with the fifth overall pick after a stellar three-year career at LSU where he collected a number of awards including an SEC All-Freshman team selection, second-team USA Today All-American honors as a sophomore and first-team AP All-American honors as a junior. He also won the Butkus Award for the nation’s top linebacker in 2018.

A two-year captain with the Tigers, White ended 2018 with 123 total tackles, 12 tackles for loss, three sacks, six pass breakups and three forced fumbles in 12 starts. The rookie middle linebacker will be tasked with filling a leadership role in the locker room and a key linebacker spot left void by the Bucs’ loss of Kwon Alexander this past offseason.

With the signing of White the Bucs have now signed all of their rookie draft picks from the 2019 NFL Draft.
