The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced on Wednesday the team has signed tight end Troy Niklas and cornerback Mazzi Wilkins.

Niklas (6-6, 270) originally entered the league as a second-round pick (52nd overall) of the Arizona Cardinals in the 2014 NFL Draft. Niklas spent his first four seasons in Arizona, playing under current Buccaneers Head Coach Bruce Arians from 2014-17. He also spent the 2018 offseason with the New England Patriots. Niklas has appeared in 41 career games, starting 18, recording 19 receptions for 203 yards (10.7 avg.) and three receiving touchdowns. A native of Fullerton, California, Niklas played collegiately at Notre Dame.

Wilkins (6-0, 191) played four seasons at the University of South Florida (2015-18), making 22 starts in 47 games played. The Tampa native, who played prep football at Plant High School, amassed 100 total tackles, 22 passes defensed and three interceptions in his four-year career with the Bulls. Wilkins was invited to the 2019 East-West Shrine Game following his senior season, after posting career highs with 48 total tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss to go along with nine passes defensed and one fumble recovery.

The team also announced that cornerback Jalen Allison and wide receiver Xavier Ubosi have been waived (injured). Tampa Bay’s roster now stands at 90.
