After 20 seasons, six Super Bowl victories, 14 Pro Bowl appearances, three MVP awards, three All-Pro selections and 541 touchdown passes, Tom Brady has announced that he will not be returning to New England for the 2020.
“I don’t know what my future holds,” Brady wrote in an announcement on Twitter. “But it is time for me to open a new a new stage for my life and career.”

Brady’s announcement comes the morning after the NFL’s legal tampering window opened, following reports of the Bucs making an “aggressive pitch” for the 42-year-old quarterback. Bruce Arians only fueled rumors at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis when he said that Brady would be a quarterback who would force him to reach out, should he became available.
With New England out of the picture, the speculation for Brady’s potential landing spot is wide open and potential suitors include the Chargers, the Raiders and the Bucs, although Derek Carr remains under contract in Las Vegas.
While Brady is free to meet with teams and work out a deal moving forward, nothing will become official until the beginning of the new league year on Wednesday at 4 p.m., should he reach an agreement. The future of quarterbacks around the league, including Jameis Winston, will hang in the balance as Brady makes his decision.
