Bucs general manager Jason Licht started the week off appearing on ESPN’s show Get Up on Monday morning to talk about Tom Brady. Though Brady signed with the Bucs over a week ago, the hype about his departure from New England and going to Tampa Bay has not slowed down.

When discussing what it feels like to land the greatest of all time, Licht described it as a surreal moment.

“It feels kind of like a dream,” Licht said. “It was a great acquisition for us during this time when a lot of things that’s going on in the world with the health crisis, it’s been a nice escape to know that we have Tom Brady.

“It was two weeks ago today that the negotiation period started when we made the first call to his agent. It seems likes two months ago now, but when we made the first call at 12 o’clock and he said ‘You made a decision to call.’ We knew that we might have a very good chance at getting him.”

While it’s been mostly positive reviews about the signing of Brady, if there were any concern about the move, some would point to the 42-year old’s arm strength diminishing as he gets older. But Licht had no worries about Brady or any of his skills after watching the tape.

“The tape to us showed that he has plenty of arm,” Licht said. “In fact, we thought that he had an ideal arm for Bruce in his system. He can still throw it deep, we felt like the mobility was still the same as he’s always had, which he’s never been able to outrun anybody but he certainly is good in the pocket with his poise and his instincts. We did not see a decline in his arm talent whatsoever. And in fact, we feel like he can still play for over two years for us and hopefully thats the case.”

Licht went on to talk about other topics such as the re-signings on the Bucs’ defensive line, Antonio Brown and how the draft process has been affected by the coronavirus pandemic. You can watch that all in his interview here.
