After participating in rookie minicamp with Tampa Bay as an undrafted free agent in 2017, Fry played with the Orlando Apollos of the Alliance of the American Football, converting all 14 of his field goal attempts, and spent time with the Chicago Bears and Baltimore Ravens prior to the 2019 season before signing a futures contract with the Carolina Panthers in December.
Fry will compete in training camp with Tampa Bay’s fifth-round draft pick in 2019, Matt Gay. With two game-winning kicks in his rookie preseason, Gay converted 77.1 percent of his field goals and 89.6 percent of his extra points last season with crucial missed kicks in losing efforts against Atlanta and the New York Giants.
Tampa Bay has had a new starting kicker for Week 1 in each of the past eight seasons.
