The NFL and the players are continuing their talks on Tuesday as they work towards an agreement that would satisfy both sides on safety measures to take place prior to the opening of NFL training camps scheduled for later this month.
Some players have voiced opposition playing with so much uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. citing safety and health concerns.
On Monday Oakley and the NFL unveiled a new face shield for helmets as a possible option.
The product was designed by Oakley in collaboration with doctors and engineers from the NFL and NFLPA to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus for players on the field. The new shields are expected to be distributed to all 32 teams over the next week for players to try.
Camps are scheduled to open around July 28 and the NFL and the players’ union have agreed on a few of issues recently. Those include media attendance and travel. More negotiations are taking place this week with hopes all will be resolved by the end of the week.
