The Bucs’ have signed former Carolina Panthers cornerback Ross Cockrell to their practice squad, per Greg Auman of The Athletic.
In addition to signing Cockrell, the Bucs have promoted tight end Tanner Hudson to their 53-man roster and have re-signed center Zack Shackleford to their practice squad.

Cockrell, now in is sixth season, was originally drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the fourth round in 2014 before playing two years with Pittsburgh and a season with both the Giants and Panthers.
Cockrell has played in 68 games, starting 43 of them, over his five years in the NFL, totaling 44 passes defended, one forced fumble and seven interceptions. A veteran presence in the locker room, Cockrell is now the oldest and most experienced cornerback on the Bucs’ roster.
