Latest Bucs Headlines

The Bucs had a sluggish first half in their game on Sunday that saw the Los Angeles Chargers score 24 unanswered points against them. But Tampa Bay flipped the script in the second half and came back from a 17-point deficit thanks to five touchdown passes from Tom Brady in a high scoring 38-31 victory.

Below is our weekly postgame list of the Most Impressive Bucs from Sunday.

QB Tom Brady
Brady helped dig his team into a first half hole with his second pick-6 of the season, but made up for it over the course of the rest of the game, particularly the second half. Brady finished with five touchdowns, tying a team record, and threw for 369 yards on 30-of-46 passing.

WR Mike Evans
Evans’ up-and-down season continued, fortunately for Tampa Bay this was one of the “up” games. After just two receptions for two yards (and two TDs) last week at Denver, Evans led the Buccaneers with seven catches for 122 yards and his fifth touchdown of the season. A majority of that production came after he was hurt in the first quarter and taken back to the locker room for evaluation. Evans gritted it out at less than 100 percent and proved why he is one of the best receivers in the NFL.

LB Lavonte David
David may have dipped into the TB12 stash of youthful invigoration before the game on Sunday against the Chargers. With 11 tackles, one for loss and a pass breakup, David was the best defensive player on the field for either team. In a game where linebacker Devin White wasn’t a huge factor, David showed up in a big way on Sunday and helped Tampa Bay get to 3-1.

RT Tristan Wirfs (and the entire Bucs offensive line)
Wirfs has gone four-for-four in his young Bucs career – meaning four games, and allowing zero sacks. On Sunday it was Joey Bosa’s turn to learn how good Wirfs has been so far this season, as the All-Pro pass rusher finished the game with just one tackle and one QB pressure. And it wasn’t just Wirfs who was outstanding, the entire offensive line was solid, not allowing Brady to be sacked while also helping Tampa Bay’s ground game to 115 yards rushing on the afternoon.

WR Scotty Miller
Miller was slowed earlier in the week with a hip/groin injury suffered last week at Denver, but with Chris Godwin ruled out Miller came through in a big way on Sunday. Miller finished the afternoon with five catches for 83 yards, including a 19-yard TD reception from Brady.

TE O.J. Howard
Howard was having one his best games in recent memory on Sunday before what is believed to be a ruptured achilles that likely will cost him the rest of the season. Prior to the injury, Howard had caught three passes for 50 yards and a touchdown.
