According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey is unlikely to play this Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after injuring his shoulder in Week 9.

It’s been a tough season for McCaffrey, who was injured in the Panthers Week 2 loss to the Buccaneers and had just returned to action in Week 9. McCaffrey was outstanding against the Kansas City Chiefs, totaling 151 yards and two touchdowns on 28 touches, but injured his right shoulder late in the contest. Tampa Bay has shut down McCaffrey in all three games against the star running back under defensive coordinator Todd Bowles, but he is still a significant loss for Carolina due to his multi-dimensional offensive ability.

Backup running back Mike Davis will again replace McCaffrey, looking to build on an 85-carry, 353-yard season in the Panthers’ star running back’s stead. The 6-3 Bucs travel to Carolina to take on the 3-6 Panthers on Sunday at 1 PM in Week 10.
