As the Bucs start their preparations for the Cowboys, running back Gio Bernard was back out on the practice field with teammates. His return is a welcome sight for the running back group’s depth after Ke’Shawn Vaughn’s struggles in the preseason.
#Bucs running back Gio Bernard was out practicing today. An encouraging sign after a ankle injury held him out of Thursday and Friday’s practice.

Bernard missed practice on Thursday and Friday with a mild high ankle sprain. The running back sustained the injury in the final preseason game against the Houston Texans. It was the first time the veteran had missed practice all summer. After Thursday’s practice Arians said Bernard was “fine.” That appears to be the case heading into week 1.
Bernard has been everything the Bucs hoped he would be after signing the veteran back in April. He has been one of the most consistent performers all camp, displaying the great receiving skills he’s known for. His pass blocking and all-around game have impressed coaching staff and teammates. Bernard’s leadership and character have fit right into the team as well.
On Sunday we will get the first injury report of the season and it will be interesting to see if Bernard is listed. The team kicks off the NFL season in just four days, as the Bucs host the Cowboys on Thursday night at Raymond James Stadium.
