On Thursday evening, a report surfaced from Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times regarding Bucs wide receiver Antonio Brown’s COVID vaccination status. Brown’s former live-in chef accused the receiver of acquiring a fake COVID-19 vaccination card in order to play under the NFL protocols for vaccinated players.

But the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have responded quickly, confirming Brown is fully vaccinated. The team released this statement less than two hours after the initial report.

Not long after the initial reports from the Tampa Bay Times, NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport spoke with Brown’s attorney, Sean Burstyn. Burstyn also stated that Brown is vaccinated.

Considering the Bucs and the NFL are confident in Brown’s vaccination status, this story seems to be over before it began.

Brown missed the Bucs’ Week 3 game against the Rams after testing positive for COVID-19 earlier in the week. He was activated the following Tuesday and played in Week 4 against the Patriots. In order for a vaccinated player to return, they must remain asymptomatic and receive two negative tests 24 hours apart before their next game.

In five games this season, Brown has arguably been the Bucs best receiver with 29 receptions for 418 yards and four touchdowns. He has missed the last three games with an ankle injury.
