One day after a 3-game suspension was announced for wide receiver Antonio Brown, the Bucs have promoted his replacement. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, wide receiver Breshad Perriman is being signed to the active roster. Perriman was signed about a month ago, and spent two games elevated to the roster.
Bucs are signing WR Breshad Perriman to their active roster, per his agent @DrewJRosenhaus. Perriman presumably is taking the roster spot opened by the Antonio Brown suspension.

This is Perriman’s second stint with the Bucs, as he first played for Tampa Bay back in 2019. The receiver caught two passes for 19 yards in his two previous appearances. Perriman also dropped a beautiful touchdown pass from Tom Brady against the Giants. He’ll likely slot in as the team’s fifth wide receiver, behind Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Tyler Johnson and Scotty Miller. Wideout/returner Jaelon Darden is still in the concussion protocol and won’t play on Sunday.
Brown and safety Mike Edwards were suspended three games each for misrepresenting their vaccination status to the NFL. Brown was out at least the next two weeks with an ankle injury anyway. Perriman will replace the All-Pro receiver’s roster spot, leaving the Bucs with two open slots. Edwards will move to the suspension list, while guard Aaron Stinnie landed on injured reserve two days ago.
One of those spots will be claimed when Carlton Davis returns to the active roster before Sunday. Tampa Bay could choose to leave the other spot open for practice squad elevations. The team could also promote guard John Molchon, safety Troy Warner or safety Chris Cooper to replace Edwards on the roster.
Tampa Bay returns to action on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.
