Latest Bucs Headlines

It’s been a week since Bucs Pro Bowl center Ryan Jensen was carted off the practice field with a knee injury. The team and their fans are collectively holding their breath awaiting word on the severity of Jensen’s injury. But there has been no update. Well, sort of.

After Tuesday’s practice, head coach Todd Bowles gave a brief update on what the holdup is on any official announcement.

“I’m not sure,” Bowles said. “We’re waiting for everything, the testing and the swelling, to go down so we can see more.”

Bowles also said that includes receiving a second and possible third opinion. Therein lies the glimmer of hope. Usually if a player has a clean ACL tear, the team doesn’t hesitate to announce it and place the player on injured reserve. The fact that Jensen has not been placed on injured reserve yet at least leaves the door open for a late-season return to the Bucs.

Robert Hainsey and Nick Leverett have done a good job in camp so far in replacing the veteran center. There will be highs and lows with both players as they step into a new role. However, early returns have been positive. The longer the wait for information on Jensen’s injury, though, perhaps the better the possibility for a comeback in 2022.
