The hits keep on coming for the Bucs offensive line.
Bucs center Robert Hainsey was injured during the second play of the team’s third preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts. On a 12-yard run by running back Ke’Shawn Vaughn down to the Colts’ 1 yard line, right guard Nick Leverett blocked a Colts defensive tackle into the back of Hainsey’s left leg. The injury appeared to be to Hainsey’s left ankle on the field.
Hainsey was able to leave the field under his own power, although he did have a noticeable limp.
The Bucs have already dealt with multiple injuries to the interior offensive line this preseason. Hainsey was starting in place of Ryan Jensen who suffered a knee injury on the second day of training camp and looks to be out for a considerable portion of the season.
Additionally, offensive guard Aaron Stinnie suffered a torn ACL and MCL last week in Tennessee. He has been placed on the injured reserve list and will miss the entirety of the season.
If Hainsey is to miss time, Nick Leverett is set to start at center. Leverett initially was in a position battle with Hainsey to replace Jensen before transitioning to a battle with rookie Luke Goedeke and Stinnie for the starting left guard spot.
Pewter Report will keep you updated on the status of Hainsey’s injury as we receive news.
