After a bad Week 3 loss to the previously winless Broncos, the 2-1 Bucs will wrap up their short two-game homestand on Sunday afternoon when they host the 2-1 Philadelphia Eagles in a rematch of the Wild Card matchup between the two teams in January.

There’s a lot on the line for Tampa Bay as Philadelphia comes to Raymond James Stadium for the third time in the last 12 months, as Todd Bowles and Co. will be looking to start 3-1 and avoid squandering what was a promising 2-0 start to the year.

The importance of this game becomes even greater when you consider that the Bucs will have a short week to deal with afterward. Soon after Sunday’s game, the team will have to shift its attention to the upcoming Thursday Night Football matchup with the Falcons in Atlanta just days later. That’s a game that will obviously have division title implications down the line, and it’s a big one for the new-look Falcons as they’ll look to live up to the “NFC South favorites” tag they were given in the offseason.

But first things first. This is a talented Eagles team the Bucs will be facing, and both teams will need to overcome some key injuries to avoid falling to 2-2. For Bowles and his team, it’s important to win this game not only in terms of their overall record and mojo, but also because it’s a home game — and one against an NFC opponent, at that.

As usual, there are other storylines to follow in this Week 4 contest, and that’s the reason we’re here right now. As we do every week here on PewterReport.com, it’s now time to take a look at what else is on the line at Ray Jay this Sunday. Of course, we’re talking about some of the records and milestones that some Bucs are moving toward. Last week, Lavonte David passed Paul Gruber for the fourth-most games played and third-most starts in franchise history.

Here’s where everything stands heading into Week 4:

Baker Mayfield

With four passing touchdowns on Sunday, Mayfield would tie Tom Brady (10 in 2021) for the third-most through four games in Bucs history. Additionally, five passing scores would tie him with Brady (11 in 2020) and Ryan Fitzpatrick (11 in 2018) for the most through four games in franchise history.

Mayfield is only one passing touchdown away from passing Craig Erickson (34) for ninth-most in team history.

With 161 passing yards, Mayfield will pass Brian Griese (4,841) for 11th-most in franchise history, while 472 passing yards would move him ahead of Jeff Garcia (5,152) for 10th-most.

Mike Evans

Sunday will mark Evans’ 158th game as a Buccaneer, tying him with Mike Alstott for the ninth-most in Tampa Bay history.

Evans is just three points away from breaking the Bucs career scoring record, which is currently held by Martin Gramatica (592).

The legendary Tampa Bay receiver is also working his way up the NFL’s record books. With 35 receiving yards, he’ll pass Don Maynard (11,834) for 32nd-most in league history, while 42 more yards will move him ahead of Antonio Gates (11,841) for 31st. With 105 receiving yards, Evans will move into 30th, ahead of Michael Irvin (11,904).

Evans is three receiving touchdowns away from tying Don Hutson (99) for 11th-most in NFL history (note: Davante Adams, who is active with the Raiders, has 96).

With three total touchdowns, Evans will become the 26th player in league history with 100 total touchdowns in his career. He would also tie Frank Gore, Franco Harris and Curtis Martin for 23rd-most touchdowns in NFL history.

Chris Godwin

Godwin is just 57 receiving yards away from breaking 7,000 for his career. When he does so, he’ll join Mike Evans as the only Bucs to do so in team history.

Godwin’s impressive start to the 2024 campaign also has him in position to potentially break some franchise records. With 128 receiving yards on Sunday, he would pass Bruce Hill (380 in 1988) for fifth-most through four games in team history, while 137 yards would put him ahead of Keyshawn Johnson (389 in 2001) for fourth-most through four games in Bucs history.

With six receptions, Godwin would pass himself (26 in 2019) and Mike Evans (26 in 2016) for fourth-most through four games in franchise history. Seven receptions would move him ahead of James Wilder (27 in 1985) for third-most, while nine would give him the second-most, ahead of Mike Evans (29 in 2018). Godwin needs 11 receptions on Sunday to pass Keyshawn Johnson (31 in 2001) for the most through four games in team history.

If Godwin hauls in another receiving touchdown against the Eagles, he would tie himself (four in 2019), Mike Evans (four in 2019) and Rob Gronkowski (four in 2021) for the second-most through four games in Bucs history. Two receiving touchdowns would tie him with Evans (five in 2020) for the most through four games of a Tampa Bay season.

Will Gholston

Sunday will be Gholston’s 173rd game with the Bucs, leaving him 11 away from passing Paul Gruber (183) for fourth-most in Buccaneer history.

Lavonte David

David is just one tackle away from hitting 1,500 for his career. When he gets there, he’ll join Derrick Brooks as the only Bucs with 1,500 in Tampa Bay.

This game will be David’s 185th, which will have him six away from passing Dave Moore (190) for third-most in franchise history.

David needs one forced fumble to join Khalil Mack as the only active players with 30 career forced fumbles.

With 1.5 more sacks, David will pass Chidi Ahanotu (34.5) for seventh-most in franchise history.

Jamel Dean

Dean needs nine passes defensed to pass Aqib Talib (54) for seventh-most in team history.
