If you aren’t a fan of Bucs rookie middle linebacker Josiah Trotter yet, you probably will be after he was featured in a new MIC’D UP video by the Buccaneers.

The team had Trotter, the team’s second-round pick, wearing a microphone for the joint practices against the Jets up in New Jersey last week. The video, which runs nearly seven minutes in length, reveals a lot about Tampa Bay’s new defender, who is battling with SirVocea Dennis to be the starter at middle linebacker.

The footage in the video shows Trotter’s dropped interception during Tuesday’s joint practice, which caused him to scream, “Oh, come on!” at himself.

Then Trotter went to the sidelines and did push-ups as a self-imposed punishment for dropping what would have been his first pick in training camp.

“I’ve got to get on the JUGGS machine,” Trotter told himself after that play.

There is some footage of the end of one of the Bucs – Jets camp skirmishes, and Trotter, who had two tackles in the preseason win versus the Jets, was next to veteran defensive tackle A’Shawn Robinson, who has quickly become a leader. After the Buccaneers huddled up following the fight, Robinson rallied his teammates.

“Hey, come on!” Robinson said. “We’re playing football – like you said, man. Stop playing around with that shit. We’re here to ball. We’ve got other shit on our minds, other goals. Let’s go! Consistency! Just dominate! Let’s just dominate football, baby! Dominate on three – one, two, three – dominate!”

The video footage reveals Trotter’s tough, hard-nosed playing style, banging heads with offensive linemen and laying some hits on the Jets running backs – and his nasty demeanor.

“Physicality,” Trotter said in one clip. “I’m going to have to put my whole body in the cold tub after today. That’s what you sign up for when you play linebacker. Let’s go.”

When jawing with Jets offensive linemen, Trotter taunts them by saying, “I promise y’all can’t block me!”

There is also a great scene where head coach and defensive play-caller Todd Bowles talks to Trotter about him tipping a blitz in practice, which prevented him from coming through a gap clean towards the quarterback.

Trotter also reacts to rookie cornerback Ayden Garnes ending practice with a pass breakup down the field.

“You a Philly boy, AG!” Trotter yelled. “That boy’s from Philly! That boy’s from dreams and nightmares!”

Good stuff from a very vocal player with a nasty edge who is quickly finding his footing in the middle of Bowles’ defense.
