Bucs Practice Buzz is a weekly segment on Pewter Report’s YouTube channel Pewter Report TV where we highlight the biggest moments and clips from the day of practice from the Advent Health Training Center.

The Bucs are on a short week as they play on Thursday night football, so everything was condensed into media availability on Monday and Tuesday. That means we heard from Bucs head coach Todd Bowles one day after their previous game while getting to talk to offensive coordinator Zac Robinson, quarterback Jalon Daniels and co-defensive coordinator George Edwards the next day.

Tampa Bay’s offense continues to regress each week, so there’s a lot of questions about what Zac Robinson is doing. We wanted to know what’s up with running back usage, plus how come wide receiver Emeka Egbuka can’t get open? Because it’s a short week, that also means there’s less time to prepare for rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels, who’s making his second career NFL start and his first start on the road. Daniels knows that he still needs to remain calm in order to get his best playing ability.

While the Bucs’ defense has played better, they have an incredibly uphill battle now that safety Antoine Winfield Jr. is going to miss the next couple of weeks with a rib injury. That means much more is going to be put on the shoulders on fellow safety Tykee Smith to be a playmaker. Luckily, Smith has been a catalyst for Tampa Bay’s recent turnovers as he forced a fumble last game. The secondary didn’t stop there as Jacob Parrish also recorded interceptions. Both of those players spoke the improvement of the defense in those recent weeks.

It’s not all perfect, though. The Bucs need more production from interior defensive lineman Calijah Kancey, who’s yet to have a tackle for loss or a sack this season. The lack of pressure by the defense in general could rear it’s ugly head on Thursday as the Cowboys have the second highest scoring offense in the league.
