Bucs Practice Buzz is a weekly segment on Pewter Report’s YouTube channel Pewter Report TV where we highlight the biggest moments and clips from the day of practice from the Advent Health Training Center.
Tampa Bay has another must-win game coming up and once again in the NFC South, this time facing the Atlanta Falcons at home in Raymond James Stadium. The good thing for the Bucs is that their defense is showing that they’re a legitimate group, recording 10 sacks and five turnovers in last two games.
This has given the defense momentum and a new bout of confidence. It also helps a ton that they had a standout game from Yaya Diaby, who recorded three sacks for his first three of the season. Diaby spoke about the performance, and how the team has the right mindset on the defensive side.

There’s a potential revenge game coming about for Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield against his former coach and current Falcons coach, Kevin Stefanski. Mayfield had some words of disdain for Stefanski in the offseason via his X account and mentioned today that he still has spoken to Stefanski since he cut him in 2021, but Mayfield is not letting it eat him up. Telling by the body language and smirk on his face, Mayfield is looking to stick it to his old coach.
Mayfield played with a glove on in his return to the lineup. He gave an update on how he was feeling after, despite only having to make 11 throws, and commented on if he know how long he’d have to to wear it for this season. He said it’s a day by day and week to week approach.

A win is needed just so they can stay in the divisional race, but also to prove that they can win at home. Tampa Bay is 0-4 thus far when playing at Raymond James Stadium. And furthermore, they haven’t defeated Atlanta at home since 2022, a season before Mayfield arrived in Tampa. The team’s starting quarterback discussed his eagerness to find a way to win on their own field, while answering what may have led to their previous losses against this opponent.
Is anymore help on the way for the Bucs? There’s a possibility as free safety Antoine Winfield Jr. practiced in full while Emeka Egbuka was a limited participant. Egbuka wore a non-contact jersey Todd Bowles said they’re progressing, but a decision won’t be made until later in the week after a couple of more practices.
