The University of Florida’s Pro Day featured prospects who will be drafted on each of the three days of the NFL Daft. Players like Quincy Wilson and Caleb Brantley appear to be Top 32 talents, by most accounts. Teez Tabor, Jarrad Davis and Marcus Maye look to be locks for Day 2. After that there are a handful of players who are gaining interests from specific teams.

Defensive end Bryan Cox Jr. is one of those players, and according to a report the Buccaneers are one of those specific team that have an interest.

In Indianapolis at the NFL Scouting Combine, Cox came in a 6-foot-3, 265 pounds. He ran a 4.89 40-yard dash with a 7.36 3-cone drill and a 4.46 short shuttle (which were in the 29th and 38th percentile, respectively). His limitation athletically along with limited production during his time UF are what make him a later round pick. However, his NFL background (his father is the D-Line coach for the Falcons) and his effort on the field are what gets him this kind of interest as a traditional 4-3 defensive end.

The Bucs did have their defensive line coach, Jay Hayes, in attendance at the Gators Pro Day, and along with them talking to Caleb Brantley at the Combine, it seems Cox was reason to be there as well. 

When asked where he’d get picked or if he’s worrying about it, Cox stayed light-hearted and honest.

“Man, if I knew [where I was going to get picked], I’d probably be a millionaire right now because I’d be able to tell the future,” said Cox. “But I have no idea. I just know I’ll be happy wherever I land.”

Right now Cox is projected as a 5-6th round pick.
