Speaking with the media on Thursday afternoon, Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians may have incidentally heaped some fuel on the Jameis Winston fire, remarking that the Bucs shouldn’t be as mistake-prone as they were a year ago. The head coach was asked about position groups that should be improved from where they were in 2019, identifying quarterback as one of those units in his response.
“I would think right now our tight end room is obviously loaded and should have more production than we had last year,” Arians said during a Zoom call with the media. “At the quarterback position, I think we should have as much production and less negative production.”
Winston famously threw 30 interceptions during the 2019 season, seven of which were returned for touchdowns. That’s more interceptions than Tom Brady has thrown over his past four seasons COMBINED (29). People may react to the bluntness of Arians’ quote, but it’s simply an extremely factual remark.
