Since the moment Tom Brady retired, speculation has run rampant that the star quarterback would un-retire. Many high-profile reporters have openly speculated about Brady’s potential to return to the game this summer. Some have even speculated he would like to play for another team if he comes back. Bucs head coach Bruce Arians has heard all the noise, but isn’t buying it.
In a recent interview with Tampa Bay Times’ reporter Rick Stroud, Arians made it clear he believes Brady is done.
“That would shock me,’’ Arians said of Brady un-retiring. “And he let us know in time to do free agency like we’ve done in the past. That’s why I don’t see it happening. I don’t know if there’s really a story there.”
It’s worth noting that Arians also said a month ago that he would be “shocked” if Brady retired.

Brady left the door cracked for a potential return when he said, “never say never” in a recent episode of his “Let’s Go!” podcast with Jim Gray. But that relatively benign comment has led many to bypass the countless times he’s clarified how happy he is with his decision to retire.
There’s also the issue of Brady remaining in football shape at age 44. There is no question the GOAT could come back and still be dominant. But to do so, he’d need to continue his rigorous training and treatment while retired. Brady will be 45 this summer. He can’t just step away from the game and then pick it back up like a younger quarterback could. While Brady will almost certainly retain a healthy lifestyle, it’s a totally different endeavor to maintain a star quarterback offseason lifestyle. And Brady won’t come back at anything less than 100 percent.
Time will tell what the GOAT ultimately decides to do. But, right now, Arians believes Brady’s time in the NFL is truly over. You can read Stroud’s entire interview with Arians right here.
