Bucs tight end O.J. Howard didn’t have a night to remember Saturday against the Tennessee Titans. As drops continue to plague Tampa Bay’s receiving corps, he added a pair in this contest. If the struggles persist it could turn worrisome, but the person whose opinion matters most isn’t worried.
After the game, head coach Bruce Arians was asked specifically about Howards drops.
“Yeah it’s not concerning because he came back and caught the ball with some grimier ones, but those were easy ones,” Arians said. “He’s made those in practice and there’s a time where you have to switch gloves when they get too wet. I think the one where it just squirted right through his hands, but after that he caught everything. It’s not concerning.”

The Bucs have had problems throughout camp with dropped passes, most recently on Wednesday in joint practices with these Titans. Howard continues to work his way back into football shape after suffering an Achilles tear in Week 4 of the 2020 season.
Last week against the Cincinnati Bengals, Howard was only targeted once. His 15-yard reception went for a first down, keeping the drive alive that would result in the Bucs’ only offensive touchdown against the Bengals.
On Saturday night against the Titans, Howard finished the game with three receptions on six targets for 24-yards.
