The Bucs announced they have activated outside linebacker Cam Gill from the team’s injured reserve list.

Gill was placed on injured reserve when rosters were cut down to 53 players. He missed most of training camp with a calf injury and was seen wearing a boot at one point. Despite being placed on IR, Gill was available to come back after three weeks. The Bucs began his 21-day window of recovery to return to the roster after Week 3. With an injury to special teams ace Patrick O’Connor, the team activated Gill for his special teams ability.
When asked after Friday’s practice if Gill would be activated for special teams, head coach Bruce Arians said, “That’s one of the things we’re thinking about.”
The team has now made it official. Carlton Davis’ placement on injured reserve opened up a roster spot, so no corresponding move was necessary. Undrafted, Gill started the season on the team’s practice squad before getting called up in October. He saw some snaps on defense, but made his biggest impact on special teams, logging 227 snaps. He also had a half-sack of Patrick Mahomes in the Super Bowl.
Bucs Elevate Two From Practice Squad
The Bucs also announced two elevations from the practice squad ahead of Sunday’s game against the Dolphins. Cornerback Rashard Robinson and tight end Codey McElroy received their second straight call up this week.

This will mark the second week in a row both players have been called up this season. It will also be the last. League rules only allow a player to be called up twice during the season, unless it’s a COVID call up. This will actually be Robinson’s third time elevated, as he was once a COVID elevation. Robinson has seen all of his snaps come on special teams, working as a gunner on punt units. McElroy’s call-up is due to Rob Gronkowski’s absence. He’ll serve as the third tight end on Sunday. McElroy played four offensive snaps against the Patriots, seeing one target.
