Brate was placed on the list prior to the start of training camp with an undisclosed injury. He will be able to start practicing with the team as early as Tuesday. Expect him to be eased back into the fold as he gets himself back into football shape. It is also unlikely Brate suits up for the Bucs first preseason game as well.
Due over $6 million for this season, Brate took a hefty pay cut for the second year in a row to remain with the team. Dropping his salary down to $3.75 million in 2021 allowed the team to bring back wide receiver Antonio Brown. Brate remains under contract for the next two seasons, although the Bucs hold options on both years.
In 20 games for the Bucs last season Brate churned out 28 receptions for 282 yards and two scores. Brate showed up big in the playoffs adding 14 catches for 175 yards and another touchdown. Throughout his Bucs career Brate has played in 98 games, starting 29 of them and racking up 223 receptions for 2,438 yards and 29 touchdowns. He adds another potent weapon to an already loaded passing attack.
