The Bucs lost a wide receiver from their roster this week, but are getting one back as well. The team announced they have activated rookie wideout and kick returner Jaelon Darden from the Reserve/COVID list.

Darden was placed on the reserve/COVID list on December 23, missing the team’s last two games. The first year receiver has been the team’s primary return man since taking over the duties from Jaydon Mickens in Week 3. Darden has averaged 18.9 yards per kick return while turning in 7.7 yards per punt return.
While he’s been out, the team brought in running back Kenjon Barner to handle return duties. Barner spent time with the team last season when Mickens was out. Barner has performed well in his stead, averaging 7.8 yards per punt, with no kick return attempts.
Darden could also see increased reps at wide receiver with the pending roster moves concerning former Buc Antonio Brown. Darden has played 81 snaps on offense this season, reeling in six passes for 43 yards. He’s also turned in 11 yards on the ground on his lone rush attempt.
Darden’s activation leaves just Bradley Pinion as the lone Buc on the list. His return comes before the Bucs play their final game of the regular season on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.
