PewterReportTV has launched a new regular video series called Bucs Cap Convo featuring Pewter Report’s salary cap expert Josh Queipo. These episodes – typically eight to 12 minutes in length – on Pewter Report’s YouTube channel PewterReportTV offer up Queipo’s insight and expert analysis on Buccaneers salary cap-related topics, such as contract extensions, salary cap cuts, player valuations, salary cap space and anything related to what general manager Jason Licht and assistant general manager Mike Greenberg are dealing with.
Since Baker Mayfield publicly addressed his frustration with a lack of deal by his self-imposed deadline, there has been a lot of information and speculation flying around about where things are, where they are headed, and what avenues are available to each side. Some of that information and speculation is accurate and some isn’t.
In this episode of Bucs Cap Convo, Bailey Adams and Josh Queipo discuss what is known regarding the negotiations between Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers, as well as what Mayfield’s side likely wants and where the Buccaneers are holding the line, which is causing the rift in negotiations. Queipo offers up a possible last-ditch effort to get the deal over the line. They also discuss how the franchise tag is still in play for the Buccaneers when it comes to Mayfield and how there is plenty of precedent for franchise QBs getting tagged and still getting long-term deals done.
