It was all defense when the Bucs were outside on Sunday, but when the team moved to the indoor facility for the second half of practice, the offense gave us the best play of the day — something Bucs fans have been waiting to see for a long time.

Though he won’t be wide receiver DeSean Jackson’s quarterback for Week 1, plays like the one above give you hope that quarterback Jameis Winston’s QB-WR connection with Jackson can thrive when Winston returns.

Would be great to see D Jax actually have to extend himself to get to a ball. Glad they connected here, but he still slows down some to catch the pass.

That’s a very good point. If that was a real game DJax does’t likely catch that one. Either the defend dives for it or DJax avoids the catch to prevent getting leveled.

DJax protects his body and it’s hard to blame him at this point in his career. To make the most out of him you need to hit him in stride or in front of him. He runs those routes at about 90% of his full speed so is ability to adjust within reason is great.

There are always those who want to put their “woulda, coulda, shoulda, editorial. DJax “slowed down” waiting for the ball to arrive. Yet some think he was somehow “protecting” himself. As you said, “incredible.” Perhaps Brate should be criticized for not getting separation.

Maybe if DJ has shown up for all of the OTA’s last year we could have seen that connection more often during the last season. But I guess $10 million a year isn’t enough to buy full participation with the team.

He had defender beat bad, he paused split second to locate and catch the ball. You expect a throw that distance and guy running full speed to locate and catch it without breaking stride one bit? Ridiculous. That’s about a 1/100 deep ball in the nfl what you are describing.
